And if you&#8217;re never had grilled Halloumi, I bet you&#8217;re going to love it!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I came up with this recipe when I had a block of Halloumi in the fridge and some mushrooms that needed to be used up, and that was all the inspiration I needed! I marinated the cheese, mushrooms, and onions for a few hours in a mixture with Mediterranean flavors; then threaded them on to my favorite double skewers and grilled them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The only thing that&#8217;s at all difficult about cooking Halloumi Cheese Skewers on the grill is making sure you use oil or non-stick spray right before you put the skewers on so the melting cheese doesn&#8217;t stick. The browned cheese is delightful with a very pleasant nutty flavor, and although Halloumi is a bit of a budget splurge, it&#8217;s something I love to make occasionally for a treat.<\/p>\n<h2>How many carbs are in the Halloumi Cheese Skewers?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The skewers with Halloumi, mushrooms, and sweet onion have about 10 net carbs per skewer and 15 grams of protein. The highest carb ingredient here is definitely the sweet onion, and if you want this recipe to be lower in carbs just use less onion or omit it completely.<\/p>\n<h2>How to make Halloumi Cheese Skewers if you don&#8217;t have an outdoor grill:<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you don\u2019t have an outdoor grill or it\u2019s not grilling weather, you can cook the grilled Halloumi skewers on a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/1NUB1IV\">stove-top grill pan with ridges<\/a> (affiliate link) or it would be great cooked on a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/1g226Ly\">George Foreman Grill<\/a> (affiliate link) as well. Or if you use the JUMP TO RECIPE link at the top of the page, it will take you directly to the complete recipe.)<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>This first photo shows the Halloumi I found at Smiths, a Kroger store in downtown Salt Lake City.<\/li>\n<li>I picked out 8 oz. of mushrooms that were about the same size, removed the stems if they were long, and washed the mushrooms in a colander.<\/li>\n<li>I cut the sweet onion into chunks about the same size as the mushrooms.<\/li>\n<li>The Halloumi was also cut up into pieces about the same size.<\/li>\n<li>I mixed together lemon juice, red wine vinegar, olive oil, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2HeiLMB\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Greek Seasoning<\/a> (affiliate link), and <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2PyFkCq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spike Seasoning<\/a> (affiliate link) to make a marinade and marinated the cheese, mushrooms, and onions in the refrigerator for a few hours.<\/li>\n<li>When you&#8217;re ready to grill, drain the cheese and veggies into a colander placed in the sink.<\/li>\n<li>Thread the ingredients on to skewers. <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2Mskw9P\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Double Kabob Skewers<\/a> (affiliate link) are perfect for this if you have them.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat the grill to medium-high and brush or spray with oil or <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2KAZEOR\" rel=\"noopener\">Pam for Grilling<\/a> (affiliate link) right before you put the skewers on the grill.
