These Oven Fried Green Tomatoes are a low-carb version of this classic American favorite!<\/p>\n<h2>What tomatoes should you use for fried green tomatoes?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whether they are oven-fried or fried in a pan, fried green tomatoes are made with unripe tomatoes that are still green. (They aren&#8217;t meant to be made with tomatoes like <a href=\"https:\/\/kalynskitchen.com\/friday-night-photos-2009-garden-update\/\">Green Zebra Tomatoes<\/a> that are still green when they&#8217;re ripe.) Choose firm tomatoes and tomatoes that aren&#8217;t too small will be easier to handle for this recipe.<\/p>\n<h2>How low in carbs are the Oven-Fried Green Tomatoes?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tomatoes do have some carbs of course, but my version of this classic recipe uses almond flour to replace the traditional cornmeal, which makes these much lower in carbs than traditional fried green tomatoes! (We looked for ones that weren&#8217;t even starting to ripen.)<\/li>\n<li>Cut each tomato into slices about 1\/2 inch thick. (We only used the larger inner slices and discarded the rounded ends of the tomato.)<\/li>\n<li>Mix 3\/4 cup almond flour with 2 tsp. Old Bay (or less, it was fairly spicy).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Beat two eggs in one small bowl and in another bowl put half the almond flour mixture.<\/li>\n<li>Dip each tomato first into the egg (so both sides is coated) and then into the almond flour mixture.&nbsp; (Press down with your fork to make the almond flour stick if needed.)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>When the first half of the almond flour mixture is getting clumpy, discard, wipe out the bowl, and switch to the second half.)<\/li>\n<li>Put the coated tomatoes on a baking sheet that you have sprayed with non-stick spray.<\/li>\n<li>Bake the tomatoes about 40 minutes at 350F\/180C, turning them carefully halfway through.<\/li>\n<li>Serve hot, with dipping sauce of your choice!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Making Sriracha-Ranch Dipping Sauce or other sauce for Fried Green Tomatoes:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>While the oven-fried green tomatoes are cooking, mix 1\/2 cup <a href=\"https:\/\/kalynskitchen.com\/byu-creamery-ranch-dressing-copycat-recipe\/\">BYU Creamery Ranch Copycat Recipe<\/a> or other Ranch Dressing with 1-2 tsp. <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2LcdtDM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sriracha Sauce<\/a> (affiliate link) to make the dipping sauce.
